We will vote with rage, revenge and resentment

Electoral times are delicate for any serious political system. Even for one that is not as much as ours.

In orthodoxy, all participants in the electoral process are careful not to commit too many abuses from power, so as not to harm the satisfactory progress of their party that is staking out pre-eminence in the electoral arena.

But in the heterodoxy in which we navigate to who knows where, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the all-powerful of the National Palace, customarily violates legality in a desperate attempt to inflate preferences in favor of his candidate and all those presented by his Movement. That’s Plan C for him.

Wisdom dictates that a silence like that of the interregnum occurs in the legislative chambers since the excessive prominence of parliamentarians or the approval of a suspicious or harmful initiative can be the definitive blow to aspirations. ‎

But for the legislators of our Congress of the Union, especially those of the Morenoist flock, that common sense is worth a damn.

Tension reigns within the police and military forces. Everyone is careful not to stumble into excess, since any abuse or atrabiliary measure can give the note that political adversaries need to reproach authoritarian procedures.

But, here and now, military excesses are the order of the day, not only in terms of their disproportionate level of lethality in their fight against criminals, but also in their exuberance with overtones of corruption in the constructions that AMLO has entrusted them, the same as in the administrative positions in which they have displaced civilians.

In the area of political decisions, weapons must be protected. Let no one sleep! would be her slogan, like the one ordered by the unknown prince to the beautiful Turandot — the cruel Chinese princess who required her suitors to answer three riddles if they wanted to marry her; If they did not achieve this, they would die — and of his Court that intended to investigate his identity.

Orthodoxy, good sense, prudence… this is what happens in other countries.

In Mexico, they are absent as if it were a bitter pill for a device that is “in a mess” due to the accumulation of errors committed in this six-year stretch.

He will not be able to jump the pole, even if he is in the middle of a wasteland without serious competitors.

There will be no “festival of democracy”

‎The social accusation of ineptitude and ignorance that hangs on the backs of the “rulers” is too heavy to want to ignore it and still put obstacles in the way of their best cadres to “sneak in” their favorite friends and relatives. Just let them sense that there is no point in fighting anymore. ‎

For Morena, it is more important to “criminalize” all those internal candidates who do not have any empathetic trace in their DNA with the aspiring dictator — the Marcelo Ebrard case is the prototypical one — than to present themselves in the elections with dignity. It is better to disappear the future internal enemies of him.

The other parties are destroyed by internal brawls, by serious accusations of involvement with drug trafficking and criminal violence.

The same as for the anticipated fight for the “big one” candidacy to not leave López Obrador’s followers alone, which resulted in no partisan militant obtaining it and that it did fall to a person without a party — although he always sheltered under the acronym of the PAN — like Xóchitl Gálvez, whom he extolled the strength of an aggrieved society.

Political parties destroyed by the insignificance of their offers. ‎People know that there is no opposition. The only one there is hostage to suspicion of having been too collaborative with the darkest part of the Morenoist regime.

That phrase that crowned the elections in the PRI’s belle epoque — “the ballot boxes are a piggy bank of democracy” — will no longer be said in Mexico. Today the polls are only a mute witness of what a Latin American sociologist baptized as “the three Rs”: rage, revenge, and resentment of the population against the whippersnappers who have offended them in all areas.

Election day, wherever it can be held on June 2nd, can no longer be the “celebration of democracy” monitored by a “citizen army jealous of republican institutions,” as was previously spread from the seat of power.

It will be a day where, I repeat, anger, rejection and resentment will prevail. Even worse when we citizens are being bombarded by millions and millions of “political messages” that can only be possible in a country of idiots.

Citizen fatigue is caused, through science and patience, in an involuntary way, as everything has been done in the country since the arrival of the Cuatroteros.

Because of all this and the daily blunders of officials, worthy analysts are betting that we will have a violent election day, marked by the participation of criminal groups that will act in favor of the candidate who “pampers” them with hugs.

An electoral process, in short, heterodox, senseless, reckless and, if that were not enough, very violent.

Indications

Old urban legends indicated that, according to the metric of the London insurance company Lloyd, after that of a Formula 1 driver, the career of a journalist was the most dangerous in the world. There are few professional car racers; Many, on the other hand, are journalists and mere writers like me who populate this world. Then then… Today, however, there is an activity that involves even more risks, particularly in Mexican territory, and this is not that of a nuclear engineer in Laguna Verde, nor that of a firefighter without uniform or equipment because the rulers steal the money, nor that of a miner abandoned to his fate by exploitative Mexican and Canadian companies, nor the doubles of certain action movie stars. The most dangerous, now, is that of a candidate for a popularly elected position. And it is that only in recent days the news media have reported on attacks and murders of which those seeking or seeking the popular vote were victims. Unfortunately, since Luis Donaldo Colosio was victimized in Tijuana, this dark stage of our recent history began conflicts between political and even criminal groups — no half measures — are resolved with the elimination of the adversary. * * * And that’s all for today. I acknowledge that you have read this Political Index and I wish you, as always, good thanks and many, many days!
